Planning and Logistics
Kestrel provides very strong capabilities in Planning and Logistics for projects, programs, and operations. We use the same precedence diagramming techniques used in the development of strategies to plan all efforts – whether simple or highly complex. This approach allows us to help streamline and optimize efforts, while coordinating the concurrent activities of individuals and sub-teams. We use the methods that are commonly used to plan major construction projects and military operations.
Another aspect of Kestrel’s planning and logistics services involves the use of Polarity Management. Typical polarities that play a major part in planning and logistics are Situation ∞ System, Risk ∞ Caution, and Quality ∞ Quantity. Polarities involve a pair of elements, each of which is valid and important, and both of which must be managed in order to produce the best result. In Polarity Management terms, the best result is referred to as “The Higher Purpose.” Similar to precedence diagramming, Kestrel diagrams the upsides and downsides of the polarities in order to find a balance and to harvest the upsides of both poles. We have found that Polarity Management can be a highly effective tool in helping teams achieve the best result possible.
Another aspect of Kestrel’s Planning and Logistics support is resource allocation and management. Kestrel is skilled at highly detailed planning and coordination of efforts involving consultants, contractors, suppliers, operations staff, transportation, and regulatory and legal staff. We help our clients manage time, human resources, and money as we do our own.
