Serving You, Our Client
We chose the name “Kestrel” because the Kestrel is a creature that embodies the characteristics we want to emulate. The Kestrel hawk is small, swift, nimble and efficient. It is focused, has clear vision and is loyal to its partner.
Kestrel is a small-and-powerful team of engineers, scientists, and managers with the ability to bring resources to bear swiftly and efficiently to accomplish extraordinary results. Kestrel has well-established working relationships with consulting firms and individual experts we draw from to meet the needs at hand. This approach provides our clients with access to extraordinary talent and commodity services as needed and when needed.
Kestrel is particularly good at tough problems and unique situations. The Pinewood Site Custodial Trust, the detection and removal of ordnance and explosives from the Conway Bombing and Gunnery Range, and the decommissioning of several fertilizer and pesticide plants are a few examples. For more examples, we welcome you to view our PORTFOLIO.
Several clients have commented that we offer the kind of capabilities and experience that one would normally expect from a firm with several hundred people. But then, if we had hundreds of people, “Kestrel” probably wouldn’t work as a name - or as a concept.

Kestrel’s clients have included family-owned businesses, very large corporations, and a wide range of enterprises in between. Our work for one government agency has entailed management of all closure construction, remediation, and operations at a bankrupt commercial hazardous waste landfill facility which occupies nearly one square mile. In that engagement, we have managed nearly 40 million dollars in expenditures over seven years while holding all of the environmental permits as trustee. We invest the funds, hire all contractors and consultants, manage the accounting and legal needs, and write the checks.
We have managed the cleanup of 250 acres of a former bombing range for redevelopment near Myrtle Beach and we are doing the necessary technical work to remove a dam and the PCB-affected sediment behind it on a wild and scenic river in South Carolina to restore the river to its natural condition.
We have served as testifying experts or expert consultants on more than 60 major litigation cases with a total at-stake value of approximately 2.5 billion dollars.
Our work has spanned a wide range of clients and much of the spectrum of environmental subject matter because Kestrel tends to be a lightning rod for challenges that most consulting firms, regardless of size, struggle with. We do not struggle, we attack.
